Sleeping Glasses

The International Eyewear Design Contest 2018 2^nd Award Winner

My goal was to design women’s glasses, which decorates the face as a jewellery. Despite the further judgement of the glasses, in 2018, we look at them as fashionable accessories. The frame got the rosegold colour, the type of the glass is driven-framed, which means the lens aren’t surrounded by that kind of frame, which should hold the glasses in one piece, this function is provided by the lens. Out of the function of the object, I would have liked to reach an expression, with the help of an attention-raising element, of which because the glasses become memorable. I led the movement at the opening and closing of the holders to the frontside, so the rounded, transparent silicone tube’s form, which surrounds the lens, becomes longer. The effect of these all can reminds us of the posture of the close eye. The case of the glasses conjures up the shape of a half moon, which also lets the user of the glasses to associate to calmness and sleeping.

„R” chair

My goal was the designing of a plywood-robe substruction. The final furniture would have been used in the inner room of a library, for the comfortable usage of the chair, I designed a handrailed version. From my way of thinking, the inner room of the library is built up by the furnitures as the letters of books’ texts. The sentences’, words’ base are the letters, in the same way as the space of this cultural community’s impreteribile elements, the chairs. For this reason, my start point of my design is the analysis of the letters of the Hungarian abc, I searched for letters, which matches the side view and structure of a handrailed chair. The letters’ and different fonts’ variations influenced me very much. Finally, I opted between the letter R and M but I also found A, G, H, K, S, X and Z appropriate forms, too. Becaouse of structural reasons, Iopted for the pattenless R letter. During construction, for the extant robe’s substruction, I used laminated sheet,made of birch, which if I bent, I got the final „R”, exactly „Я” form.

One, Calligaris metal edge chair’s renovation out of use was my goal with the replacement of the bottom and the backrest. The original substruction’s back legs lace together in an arched way and meet the backrest’s holding elements, like a supporting handhold. I would have liked to highlight and emphasise this special area for me. In furniture industry, I experiment with unique materials, so my choice was the wire fence. It’s texture was perfect for emphasising the beauty of the metal framework but the wire fence didn’t seem to be able to use for comfortable sitting. I searched further and the new material, with higher weight resistance, which I found great for my imagination, was the twice-seamed steel. I attached the metal-braid to the framework with screws, for this reason, the chair became usable again.
